We just arrived in Banff via Icefield Parkway, will hopefully post some pix soon since unbelievably beautiful.
Before I forget, one more word on Vancouver – everywhere we walked we saw intercity vegetable gardens. Many looked managed by residents, and some possibly for restaurants. Great idea for big city.
Boarded train for Jasper yesterday and promptly upon departure were served champagne and little chocolate cakes in the observation car.
Breakfast choices included omelettes, oatmeal, french toast and more – real food and it was delicious. Has shrimp and scallops for lunch, plus all the fruit and snacks you would want. Our little cabin had bunk beds and toilet. Bed removed in morning, replaced by 2lounge chairs. Although we spent most time in observation car and in the ‘domed’ car.
Joe saw a bear from the train and we all admired the Rockies.
Arrived in Jasper at 4, got larger car thankfully. Driving to Banff we all saw a brown bear, also big horned sheep.
