departure and arrival

Packing up bikes yesterday morning in Toronto and put together again this morning in Ottawa. After packing, which just keeps getting easier, Jan set out to the Textile Museum and Joe and I headed off to Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). Jan took lots of pix of hooked and woven, colorful and shiny articles of clothing and rugs. We took lots of pix of 12,000 and older dinosaurs and other dead stuff; Joe was like little kid in toy store!

Joe always needs regularly timed meals which means I get to eat too, so stopped at Creperie on way to hotel. Some of the best we have had, the crepe itself was soft and crisp but not dry. And filled with fresh, just barely cooked vegetables.

Think Jan has iced tea and not sure where her energy comes  from because she doesn’t eat much, usually apple for lunch.

Had luck finding big cab to fit our bikes and backpacks to rail station. There have been times we considered taking two cabs, but using from seat and sitting on back seat with packs stacked two high just squoze in, no need for seat belts!!!

4 hour, very pleasant train ride with picnic dinner complemented with Canadian beer and voila, we’re in Ottawa. Lots of bike paths here and waterways, heading out shortly to discover it all!!

Books: just finished The End of Life Book Club, highly recommend. Starting The Other Wes Moore and already hooked. Earlier read The 13th Juror, fun mystery. Also another must read: Three weeks with my brother, Nicolas Sparks. Started several others that I didn’t like. Love my Kindle with so many choices.
