We have been seeing ads for the new exhibit starting at the Montreal Botanical Garden since arriving here, but it doesn’t start until June 21, and when we checked on line the ticket prices went from $18 to over $30, so we decided to go today- and voila!! We got to see most of the exhibits, plus, actually see them finalizing some of them too. The exhibit was giant topiaries. They were exquisite, and some just astonishing in size and complexity. For example, one simple display had 1,600 individual plants. Also, at the same complex was the Insectarium, displays with all kinds, shapes, sizes of insects – thankfully many live insects too!
After walking for hours, jumped back on Metro (built in 1966) to get as near to Mont Royal as possible. A big hill with an amazing view down at the city. So we walked and climbed stairs up nearly 800 ft, and worth the swearing and sweating.
Found a grocery store for salad makings for dinner, followed by gelatos for Jan and me! Ah, lunch was at great little restaurant in a pedestrian zone with pitchers of German beer.
