Art and food

22 Jun

Thankfully we had healthy breakfast, rest of day was heart attack food! Poutine for lunch after walking around art museum, which was free, for almost 3 hours. Great variety of well known artists, from El Greco to Rembrandt to Monet, fantastic Canadian artists and Inuit works.

Poutine is fries with cheese curds and gravy! There are variations like we had with peas, mushrooms and onions. Smoke’s even had vegetarian gravy. Dinner was crepes followed by gelato. Forgot, we had wine and hummus with pretzels in room before dinner!!

Jan went to an historic house owned be Jacques Cartier, a railroad baron while Joe and I lounged at Starbucks.

It rained all day, we still walked a lot and took advantage of great Metro. Packing tomorrow morning to catch 1pm train to Quebec City. 3 hr ride.

Have really enjoyed Montreal for big city. Great place to visit when the weather isn’t perfect since loads of museums. Like mixture of old and new, good transportation, river, and general feeling. Although, Ottawa remains my definite favorite of larger cities and Banff for small ones, well, now that I’m thinking about it, can’t leave Victoria off my list of really likes!
